Any type of pain that you are experiencing can affect your life by obstructing your ability to live a normal regular life. • Sprains: Overstretching or tearing the ligaments offshoot as a sprain. Ligaments are pieces of tissue that connect two bones in a joint.
  • Strains: Overstretching or tearing muscles or tendons come out as sprain. Tendons are thick, fibrous cords of tissue that connect bone to the muscles. These strains are also commonly mistaken for sprains.
  • Knee injuries: All injuries that interfere with the knee joint movement can be some sports injuries. These range from overstretching to a tear in the muscles or tissues in the knee. Shin splints entail pain along the shin bone (tibia). Knee injuries comprise more than half of all sports injuries. These include:
  • Tear of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), one of the main ligaments in the knee.
  • Patellofemoral pain syndrome is an injury consequential to the recurring movement of the kneecap beside the thigh bone.
  • Meniscal tears are traumatic knee injuries from sports that involve a lot of heavy landing, twisting, and pivoting in games such as soccer, football, and basketball.
  • Tennis elbow (epicondylitis) is when tendons in your elbow are overloaded, usually due to repetitive motions of the wrists and arms.
  • Shoulder injuries include sprains, strains, and dislocations caused by overuse or repeated overhead movement.
  • Achilles tendon rupture: This is a thin powerful tendon at the back of your ankle. It can break or rupture during sports, causing sudden severe pain and difficulty walking.
  • Fractures: Bone fractures or broken bones.
  • Dislocations: Sports injuries may force a bone out of its socket. This can be painful and may lead to swelling and weakness.
  • Sciatica, disc pain, and lower back pain affect athletes who participate in baseball, cycling, running, tennis, and golf. The most common cause of Sciatica is a lack of proper stretching.
  • Swollen muscles: As a natural reaction to any injury, we encounter swelling. This may also lead to pain and weakness in muscle strength.
  • Concussion and brain injuries due to trauma to the head during contact sports and symptoms include nausea, difficulty concentrating, loss of balance, dizziness, amnesia, disorientation, headaches, and other symptoms. Unconsciousness may occur in severe cases.
  • Rotator cuff injury: A Rotator cuff is formed by four pieces of muscle that work together. The rotator cuff keeps your shoulder moving in all directions. A tear in these muscles will weaken the rotator cuff.
  • If you are a sportsperson experiencing any of the above mentioned symptoms, it is advisable to consult a professional pain management specialist and discuss the available treatments. It is critical to get assessed and diagnosed to get timely treatment.
